Light Lutheran Congregation celebrates Pastor Geoff Kuchel’s retirement
Pastor Geoff Kuchel retired on Sunday 28 June after 45 years of ministry across four states, one territory and two countries. He served as pastor of the Light Lutheran Congregation for the past seven years.
His final service, attended by more than 160 people in person and others online, centred on the grace we receive from God. Emeritus Bishop David Altus led the rite of retirement, with congregation chairperson Leighton Schuster presenting gifts to Geoff and his wife, Chris. The service concluded with Geoff and Chris’s five children all singing to him, which was a beautiful surprise to Geoff, and there was not a dry eye in the place.
The congregation all shared lunch together before celebrating Pastor Geoff in song and dance. It was a wonderful day of giving thanks for God’s gift of a pastor who was deeply loved by his congregation.
We pray for Pastor Geoff and Chris as they begin this new chapter in Victoria. We give thanks for their years of faithful service and ask God to bless them as they settle closer to family.
