125 years at St Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Geranium Plain

11 November 2025

by St Stephen's Congregation, Geranium Plain

On Sunday, 26 October 2025 we celebrated 125 years of worship for our church out bush!

It is difficult to say when church services actually started in the area as some were held in the Hausler family home and churches nearby. However St Stephen’s was dedicated on 28 October 1900. To continue this worship in the area we give thanks to Albert Redemski who donated the land for the church to be built on. One unique feature is the pulpit which is thought to be one of a few left in our state. There are also Biblical verses on the baptismal font, altar and front galley in German. Our font was also used in the film ‘Water Diviner’.

After the service concluded we travelled to the Robertstown Church Hall for a pooled luncheon and time of fellowship.

Our congregation was heartened and thankful to not only have members of our Eudunda-Robertstown Parish attend but families that had connections with the church to help us celebrate this important occasion. The day also coincided with Reformation Day in the church calendar.

A few thank you’s for the day being Pastor Jacob Fabich for leading the service, Pam Kleinig (Organist), Colin Jenke (for the Sound System) and last but not least, to all of our congregation members for the preparations before and on the day.

We maybe small in numbers but we stand by our church sign ‘Come Join Us’ for worship and fellowship.
