District Office farewells Holly Koning
Holly has been an integral member of the District Office team for over nine years and has made the decision to follow a new career path.
Holly’s first role in the office was as receptionist and assistant to the Professional Standards Officer. It was in this role that many people got to know Holly as she arranged Safe Church trainings for Dave Biar. She also assisted many people with their compliance requirements, always with a very patient phone manner or clear email instructions.
As Holly’s skill set grew, she started assisting with event planning and management, running her first District Pastors’ Conference and District Convention of Synod in 2021.
She presented at our Secretary’s Day and Church Chat Day events, as a capable and competent presenter.
Throughout this time Holly’s knowledge of the event management system used by the Church grew so much that she was called upon by the 2024 LCA Convention of Synod Planning Team to organise and manage the registration and check in processes. This was a complex project which involved many moving parts and last-minute technology changes and challenges. Holly’s thoroughness, tenacity and dedication ensured that all these systems and processes worked seamlessly at both conventions. Holly has been a leader of this for the whole LCANZ.
More recently Holly has served as our Congregational Support Officer, as well as supporting the work of Bishop Andrew, Assistant Bishop for Mission Pastor Stephen and District Administrator Angela through her executive assistant skills. This role has also included support of other staff.
Holly has become a clear reference point for congregation leaders, pastors and members through her experience and willingness to serve. In all of this, Holly has always been diligent, willing to learn new skills, dedicated to doing her best and whatever is required to achieve the goal. She is a great team player, always willing to lend a hand and more recently to take the lead. We will miss Holly’s sense of humour, friendship and enthusiasm and enjoyment of life. Many people will not know that Holly is a very good cook, something our District Church Council members will attest to. We will especially miss her caramel slice (can we please have one more before you go?). Holly’s strong Christian faith has been evident in the way she has served the Church and its people.
As we prepare to say farewell to Holly in the next few weeks, we invite you to send her an email (administration.sa-nt@lca.org.au), which we will compile and put in her card. We give thanks to God for Holly and the blessing she has been to our office and ask God to continue to bless Holly as she moves into her new role.
‘The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.’ (Psalm 29:11)
We will miss you Holly and thank you for everything. God’s blessings to you.
