Pastor Mark Welke installed at Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Magill
Pastor Mark Welke was originally appointed to Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Magill in 2021 on a part-time basis for three years, supporting then-Pastor Michael Prenzler who was training Julian Mazzeo as a pastor for the Adelaide Deaf Community Church. This arrangement concluded at the end of 2023.
In 2024 the congregation sought to appoint a pastor on a 0.5 basis. While an initial expression of interest received no response, the congregation soon realised they had a pastor ‘right under their nose’ and offered Pastor Mark this position.
Pastor Mark, along with his wife Jayne and son Nathan, have been members of Pilgrim for over four years, and it seemed that God has led Pastor Mark to accept this appointment.
Sunday 31 August was a special day for the congregation when Pastor Mark Welke was officially installed as their pastor. The service was officiated by liturgist Pastor Chris Mann – Zone Counsellor, and SA-NT District Assistant Bishop Pastor Stephen Schultz, who delivered the sermon and conducted the installation.
It was also a special day for Pastor Mark personally, as his father, Pastor Peter Welke, read the gospel reading, and many family members and friends attended to witness his installation.
