THRIVE conference

22 June 2021

Mental health and emotional and spiritual wellness were the focus at the recent THRIVE conference, hosted by The Ark Salisbury Lutheran Church. The day was jam-packed with practical ideas on how to work towards and maintain a healthy heart and mind, with a God-centred focus.

The THRIVE team brought together three presenters who inspired the audience and gave much food for thought, set against a beautiful lush backdrop of greenery that set a tranquil tone for the event.

Psychologist Michelle Bakjac shared useful and practical tips on resilience, stress management and how to ‘bounce forward’, rather than just ‘bouncing back’, when faced with a challenge.

Lutheran Pastor Stephen Abraham’s session gave participants the opportunity to try a guided Christian meditation, with plenty of great resources to take away and use at home.

Pastor Richard Fox spoke about his work with Lutheran Media, a platform that offers hope and comfort to millions of people worldwide through the message of Jesus.

Just some of the special touches on the day included a coffee van for that morning caffeine-hit, a pop-up Koorong bookstore, goodie bags for each participant and a delicious homemade afternoon tea, prepared and served by a team of wonderful volunteers.
