Stephen Schultz accepts Assistant Bishop – Mission role
I am delighted to inform the church that Pastor Stephen Schultz has announced his decision to accept the call to be Assistant Bishop – Mission in the Lutheran Church of Australia South Australia – Northern Territory District.
Bishop David Altus heard the news the day before he and Carolyn flew to Africa on the next stage of his rest and refreshment leave. With all of us at the District Office, he is delighted and looks forward to working with Stephen in the New Year.
Stephen comes to us from St Michael’s, Hahndorf, where he has been for the last 15 years. Before that, he was associate pastor at Bethlehem, Adelaide, for five and a half years.
Stephen has also served on General and District Church Councils, the Australian Lutheran College Board of Directors, and many other committees and teams.
We will now be meeting with Stephen to arrange for orientation to his new role, as well as all those practical matters that need to be dealt with when changing positions. My last day in the office will be 8 December 2017.
I am delighted that Jenny and Stephen have heard the Lord’s call to take up this work of supporting pastors, congregations, schools and other parts of the church in their ministry and mission.
Stephen, we welcome you to the district staff team and to the work of the wider Lutheran Church of Australia!
