Starting to feel like home again
A new cross was placed on top of Trinity Lutheran Church, Blyth, in September, as repair work continues from last year’s devastating storm.
The cross is about half a metre taller than the previous one and will be seen throughout most of the township, especially at night.
Builders have been busy demolishing, repairing, and extending the church over the past few months and the church will likely reopen before the end of 2017.
Mid North Parish Pastor James Leach said the placing of the cross on top of the bell tower had been a more important occasion than he had imagined.
‘With its installation, the church site changed from feeling like a house we used to live in, to a home we are about to move back into’, he said.
Trinity Lutheran Church was seriously damaged in the wild weather that caused a statewide blackout in September 2016.
Back in June, SA–NT Bishop David Altus visited the church and presented members with a grant from District Church Council, made available through the SA–NT Disaster and Welfare Fund.
Pastor Leach said the congregation thanks everyone for their prayers as they eagerly wait to move back into their home.
