God’s love in action at ‘Funday Sunday’
On Sunday 14 September 2025, the combined Barossa Churches hosted ‘Funday Sunday’ at Faith Lutheran School Junior Campus in Tanunda. Grandparents brought grandchildren, parents brought their kids, young people came, some drove for an hour or more. They came from all over the place and it was a joy and a privilege to host an event that brought so many people together for a day filled with connection, laughter, and quality time with family and friends.
The entire event was free! We are so thankful to the Lutheran Church SA-NT District and the LLL for awarding ‘Funday Sunday’ a LLL Mission Outreach Grant, which along with some generous donations from The Great Revival Store, Community Helpers and our local Barossa churches, helped turn this vision into a vibrant celebration of generosity, connection, and community spirit. Thanks also to our amazing team of volunteers who poured their time, energy, and hearts into serving and blessing our community.
The weather was perfect! Sunny with a gentle breeze. The day began at 10:45am with a well-attended family church service led by Pastor Will Samson from The Barossa Community Church followed by a vibrant community celebration.
There was some great live music, activities were varied, catering to all ages and included a bouncy castle, obstacle course and climbing wall and face painting. Children also enjoyed hands-on experiences with Farm Barn animals, as well as woodworking and craft activities. Sumo suits were popular and provided plenty of laughs for participants and spectators as the wrestlers battled to pin their opponents down or push them off the mat.
To encourage movement around the site children were given a ‘Funday Sunday’ trail card with eight activities to visit. Once they had all the destinations marked off, they received a Lutheran Media ‘Hope for Kids’ show bag. There was so much food – pizza, soup, pancakes, ice creams, and a sausage sizzle, tea, coffee and cordial all served with smiles.
It was a truly wonderful day that reflected God’s love in action, and we look forward to doing it all again in 2026.
