Lutheran Homes Barossa celebrates opening of men’s shed
Lutheran Homes Barossa has been busily preparing for the grand opening of the men’s shed on Tuesday 4 March. Located in the spacious Oleander Garden, the shed is designed to foster camaraderie and connection among residents and community members. Our residents and retirement village/community members came together to enjoy a sausage sizzle to mark the occasion.
A special mention must go to the Ladies Auxiliary Club, which generously donated funds to make this day possible. A few of our residents keenly helped prepare for the day, including a trip to Bunnings for supplies.
Our residents and community members, supported by our Lifestyle Team, will use the space. Our community members, in particular, make the most of this space each Wednesday, allowing them the opportunity to be creative in their own unique ways.
Lutheran Homes Barossa has been blessed to have some special volunteers, including visionary Drew, who helped turn the space into a rustic, memorabilia-filled shed, and Karen, who dedicates her time every Tuesday to help the Lifestyle Team create and work on projects chosen by the men who frequent the space.
Families and friends are always welcome, many of whom are keen to donate items or time to enhance the experiences of the men’s shed. For those wishing to visit, please contact Lutheran Homes Barossa on (08) 8563 7777 to make a booking.
Lutheran Homes Barossa hopes that creating these spaces and subsequent outings will provide a sense of self and purpose for men and women.
Sharon Berridge is the Executive Manager – Residential Care at Lutheran Homes Barossa.
