Welcome Bethany
Hello there! My name is Bethany and I am excited to be your new Together editor.
Over the coming months, I look forward to meeting many new faces and hearing about all of the wonderful goings-on within the Lutheran Church in SA and NT.
I grew up in Adelaide and I was fortunate to be part of Christian communities through my church and school.
My love for writing and reading was always clear. I developed a habit of writing or scribbling on any scrap of paper I could get my hands on, and the weekly church newsletter was no exception. It’s a habit I have never quite shaken, so I often leave a service on Sunday morning with some florals or patterns illustrating my sermon notes.
At university, I studied Creative Writing and Media and Communications, and have since written short stories, worked as a freelance editor, and, most recently, written match reports and assumed the position of social media coordinator for Netball Scoop, a non-for-profit netball news website.
Every time I have moved locations and had the chance to attend and experience a new church, the linking thread has been the hope these communities share.
That hope stems from hardworking, passionate members and volunteers with a heart for serving, who each use their given skills to bring new, creative ideas to the table.
As the new editor, I hope to let the wider community know how these ideas are impacting your congregation, group or school. Whether you connect with Together from your local congregation or from afar, I welcome members of the wider Lutheran community to approach me if you know of or are organising anything of interest.
Every church has so many different stories to be told at any given time and I am excited to start telling all of yours.
