New District bishop team elected
The SA-NT District’s new bishop team has been elected by delegates at the recent Convention of Synod, held in May at Victor Harbor.
Pastor Andrew Brook was elected unopposed as the next bishop, succeeding Bishop David Altus who did not seek re-election after 13 years in the role. Pastor Andrew is the lead Pastor at St Johns Lutheran Church in Unley, and previously served in the Victoria-Tasmania District.
Pastor Adrian Kitson, who serves the congregation of St Petri Nuriootpa, has replaced Pastor Andrew as First Assistant Bishop, while Pastor Joel Cramer, of The Ark Salisbury, continues in his role as Second Assistant Bishop. Both assistant bishops were installed during Synod.
Bishop-elect Andrew will conclude his service as pastor of St John’s Unley over the next two months, and will then take some leave during August. It is anticipated that he will be installed as District Bishop in early September. Current bishop, Pastor David Altus, will continue to act in the role in ‘caretaker mode’ before his retirement, anticipated to be at the end of July. Until Andrew’s installation please contact Bishop David or Assistant Bishop for Mission Stephen Schultz at the District Office, should the need arise.
