Welcome to the August Work Health and Safety matters.
This month we want to look ahead to the coming summer and fire season and assist congregations to begin thinking about being fire safe.
Now is the time to make sure that you have enough and appropriate fire extinguishers around the church and have them serviced, if this has not already been done. Do you have fire blankets in the kitchen? Don’t forget to include your church manse in these checks. Do people know how to use them? Does your church have an evacuation plan and safe meeting place outside? Do the welcome team know about this?
Are there any things you need to do around your properties to get ready for the summer fire season? Trees should be trimmed away from roofs, leaves cleared regularly from pathways, gutters and gardens and generally check that there are no fire hazards around your church properties.
If you live outside of the Adelaide metro area, do check on your pastor and his family. Do they have a bushfire plan? Do they know what to do and where to go?
Don’t forget that you can access the full yearly Work Health & Safety calendar here.
