Lutheran history to be commemorated in Coober Pedy
The former site of the Coober Pedy Lutheran Church Hall will be commemorated with the unveiling of a plaque in May this year.
The venture has been initiated by the Lutheran Church in Alice Springs and supported by the Coober Pedy Historical Society.
The hall is now home to the Coober Pedy TAFE campus, but has an interesting history going back to 1959 when Pastor Fred Traeger arrived in town with his wife Gertie.
The unveiling ceremony will begin at 2pm on 24 May 2020 and will be followed by an afternoon tea in the TAFE building. There will also be a photographic display from the years 1959-1978.
If you are in contact with other people who would be interested in attending this event, please pass on this information. This is a wonderful opportunity to share your memories of those years with others who attended the church.
Please RSVP by Friday, 1 May 2020, to jennifer.davison@bigpond.com or (08) 8672 3714.
