Tanunda Lutheran Home Gets Loud
Mental health and suicide awareness is not always an easy topic to discuss, but Tanunda Lutheran Home has opened up the channels of conversation by hosting a BE LOUD day, with funds being raised for Beyond Blue.
Tanunda Lutheran Home People, Culture and Customer Service Manager Kim Hahn said the concept of BE LOUD day means a lot to the staff and residents.
“In a very short amount of time our residents and staff were impacted by a number of tragic deaths by suicide in the Barossa Community,” Hahn said.
“At the celebration of life of one of these people, the family members asked that we be loud in talking about mental health and suicide, to raise awareness and hopefully change the mental health persona and systems that currently impact so many people.”
Blue was the theme of the day, with a blue dress up, cupcakes and items for sale, face painting, a blue (environmentally friendly) balloon release and the planting and painting blue of a tribute tree, in honour of those lost to suicide.
