Light from light exhibition
The LCA’s Department of Visual Arts is again displaying its own exhibition in the South Australian Living Artists Festival at St Stephen’s Lutheran Church, Adelaide, this year.
The exhibition, which brings together over 25 local and interstate artists under a central theme, ‘Light from Light’, aims to build upon the success of last year’s inaugural exhibition.
All artists have been asked to create a work in response to the theme, while also considering how their creative practice is shaped by their personal beliefs.
An example of the work that will be on exhibition is Adelaide artist Sarah Moller’s ‘Final Siren’ (pictured). Moller created this large scale oil painting from a photograph captured at Adelaide Oval last year.
“Somewhere during the third quarter of the game, the sun suddenly broke through the clouds and the entire eastern stand had to shield its eyes from the blinding light,” Moller said. “I wanted this painting to capture some of the intensity of that moment, where the whole crowd squinted through the light and shielded their eyes from the heavenly glare.”
‘Light from Light’ will be opened by LCA Bishop John Henderson on Sunday, August 26.
The exhibition will be open to visitors during weekends throughout September and will conclude on September 23.
