Ordination of Neville Doecke at Hermannsburg
It was a wonderful occasion for the local community of Hermannsburg when Neville Doecke was ordained at Bethlehem Lutheran Church on August 27.
Lutheran Church of Australia (LCA) Bishop John Henderson was in attendance and preached the sermon on Matthew 16:13 – 20.
Fellow pastoral support workers, pastors Paul Traeger, Darryl Mattner and Rob Borgas, and Aboriginal pastors Simon Dixon, Trevor Raggett and evangelist Justin Allen, prayed for God’s Spirit to give Neville strength and to guide his ministry.
The Hermannsburg Church Choir enriched the service with their beautiful anthems and harmonious hymn singing. After the service, many photos were taken and a cuppa and biscuits were enjoyed by all.
Family members and visitors then gathered in beautiful sunshine for a lunch outside at the manse.
‘It was a memorable day filled with blessings from God, to me personally, to Heather, to both the local people and to visitors who gathered at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church’, Neville said.
‘It was especially wonderful that my Mum and other close members of our immediate family were able to join the celebration.’
